From Japan, we use Japan Post's EMS or SAL. EMS is tracked and fairly fast. It is delivered to your door by a courier (either national postage agency or similar.) Or you can use SAL (Economy Air) which is about half the price but takes twice as long and isn't tracked.

We use a variety of padded large size envelopes. Postage costs vary depending on how much you buy. Most books are single items in multi-volume sets, so the more you buy the cheaper it becomes. For large quantities SAL is better.

You accept responsibility for the purchase. If you use EMS for postage, you can track the item, otherwise once it leaves my hands at Japan Post, I have no control over it. Usually the item will be sent within a day or two of payment confirmation, and arrive within a week or so if EMS is used. SAL takes longer, anywhere up to a month for large parcels.

You can track your package using your EMS item number.
